Our Mission
The Students' Philanthropic Foundation (SPF) is a student-led charity that acts on a global scale to improve educational and health outcomes of youths worldwide.
OUR SPF STORY
By Students, For Students
The idea of starting a foundation by students, for students was born when a group of high school students in Germany decided they wanted to give back what they viewed as their greatest privilege: access to education.​​​​
Today, our SPF Community includes more than 20 university branches with over 300 members and alumni worldwide. Through our growing network of branches, we connect like-minded students and provide our members with opportunities​ to collaborate, take on leadership roles and gain hands-on experience, while making a difference in their respective communities.​
We aim to involve as many students as possible in philanthropic work, channeling the expertise, creativity, and effort of a diverse and motivated group of individuals to ensure every youth has access to health and education.
​As a trustee foundation, we work alongside Plan International to achieve our mission on a global scale, supporting educational and vocational projects that create positive change. Our branches fundraise for education through events, such as our SPF Bake Sales or SPF Charity Runs. In 2024, our SPF ESCP Turin branch hosted SPF’s first Cultural Benefit, bringing together young talents of the university music and art clubs.
On a regional level, we collaborate with local non-profit organizations and drive change through student-led volunteer efforts. SPF Milano was our first branch to get involved, volunteering at the Daily Bread Association. In 2022, our SPF ESCP Paris branch launched "Walks of Kindness", a community-driven initiative. Since then, three other European branches have joined the effort.
We recognize education as a a key determinant of economic prosperity and hope to act as a catalyst for the continuous improvement of quality of life and economic development. Furthermore, we want to develop SPF into a charity that acts as a global point of reference for students wanting to get involved in philanthropic work. At SPF, we want to inspire students to work for a greater good wherever and whenever possible.

​2013 - Natalie, Max, Ann Sophie, and Elias founded SPF ISF at International School Frankfurt in Germany.​
2017 - Katharina founded SPF Milano at Bocconi University in Italy.​​
2017 - Natalie founded SPF Columbia at Columbia University in the USA.
2019 - Leonard and Erik founded SPF Strothoff at International School Strotthoff in Germany.​​​
2019 - Annabelle, Daniel, Daniel, Julia, Kristian, and Maya founded SPF NYU at New York University in the USA.​
2020 - Carlos and Jason founded SPF Barcelona at ESADE Business School in Spain.​
2020 - Constantin and Julien founded SPF ESCP Paris at ESCP Business School, Paris Campus in France.​​
​2020 - SPF Frankfurt School started at Frankfurt School of Finance & Management in Germany.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
2020 - SPF St. Gallen started at University of St. Gallen in Switzerland.​
2021 - Antonia, Paula and Theo founded SPF Vienna at Vienna University of Economics and Business in Austria.
2021 - Augustin and Fernando founded SPF Munich at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich in Germany (later formed Munich Roots in Education).​
2021 - Daisy, Matteo, and Theresia founded SPF Innsbruck at Medical University of Innsbruck in Austria.
​2021 - Gregory founded SPF Amsterdam at University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands.​
2021 - Michaela founded SPF Copenhagen at University of Copenhagen in Denmark.​
2021 - SPF Warwick started at University of Warwick in the UK.​​​​​
2022 - Mohammed founded SPF City London at City, University of London in the UK.​
2023 - Antonia, Karoline, and Natalie founded SPF ESCP Turin at ESCP Business School, Turin Campus in Italy.​
2023 - Fabio, Jonas, and Kiara founded SPF Lisbon at Nova School of Business and Economics in Portugal.​
2023 - SPF ESCP Madrid started at ESCP Business School, Madrid Campus in Spain.​
2024 - Moritz, Paula, and Sofia founded SPF Maastricht at Maastricht University in the Netherlands.
